What Is My Purpose?

One day after thinking about my purpose here on earth and wondering if I could do anything that would make a difference in anyone else’s life, I decided that I better take some time and ask God. My prayer to Him asked this question: “What do You want me to do for You?”

No sooner had the words left my lips that I began to hear these words in my spirit. And as I often do, I put my pen to paper and began to write. I heard these words first: “Father, help me. Father, help me to share Your love.” The words just continued to flow onto the page, and I knew that God was speaking to my heart.

As I laid my pen down, I felt His presence and knew that He had heard my prayer and answered me in the way that only a loving Heavenly Father would. I have learned this valuable truth about prayer. If you ask Him, He will always answer you. I knew that He was telling me what I could do to make a difference.

I want to share the words that He spoke to my heart. Theses words changed my thinking and helped me to understand my purpose. At the end of theses verses, I knew just what I was to do.

Father, Help Me

Father, help me to share Your love,
with understanding from above.
Help me to listen to your still, small voice;
in my heart, make the right choice.
Let me see the hurt in the heart of that one
who needs the love of Your Dear Son.
So, Father, in Jesus’s name I pray
that You use me and help me to say
the words that will comfort and console,
to help make their broken heart whole.
After all, Lord, I may actually be
the only Jesus they may see.
Father God, if my only purpose here on this earth
is to share your Word about the new birth,
I will do that with all of my might,
always keeping one goal in sight.
At the end of the day, when I stand before You,
I have done what You have asked me to do.

Call to me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

—Jeremiah 33:3

Ask and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

—John 16:24
